A 16th century castle is thought to have once stood on the bank of a ravine on the way to Pennan. Although part of the south wall and other random stones were apparently still visible in 1913, nothing now remains.
Auchmedden Castle is in the parish of Aberdour (Aberdeenshire) and the county of Aberdeenshire.
