Tyrie (site of)

There was a castle at Tyrie which pre-dated a house built by James Fraser in 1690. Whether the house incorporated the earlier castle, the castle was demolished or even stood at another location is unclear. Tranter believed the castle stood closer to Tyrie Mains, where the farmhouse has some old stones from the castle built into it including a red carved stone installed above the back door.
