The alcohol pages

Scottish breweries

There are more than 140 breweries in Scotland, producing real ale, craft beer and mass market brews.

Come and explore the hundreds of beers they produce between them, from light to dark, traditional to experimental.

Scottish gin

Scotland is home to a growing craft gin market, with dozens of producers distilling gins with a range of flavours.

Around 70% of the UK’s gin is made in Scotland, while 80% of the UK’s juniper bushes are found in Scotland.

Scottish vodka

Vodka is actually the most consumed spirit in Scotland, however only a handful of Scottish companies produce vodka.

Concentrating on using high quality locally-sourced ingredients, these speciality spirits are part of a growing market in Scotland.

Pubs and bars

Where better to try Scottish beer, whisky, gin and vodka than in one of the thousands of hostelries dotted around Scotland?

Whether you’re looking for a traditional country pub or a cool, contemporary city-centre bar, and whether your tipple of choice is beer, whisky or cocktails, you’re sure to find a location that suits.
