Upsettlington Castle (site of)
Upsettlington Castle was a castle belonging to the Bisset family in the 13th century, but nothing of it now remains.
The exact location of the castle has been lost. Some sources state that it was across the River Tweed from Norham Castle while others believe that it was replaced by the 18th century Ladykirk House which was demolished in 1966.
It’s possible that Ladykirk motte may represent the site of the castle given its proximity to Norham, however Upsettlington is distinct from Ladykirk and further west along the river.
I have placed the site of the castle at the site of the former Ladykirk House pending further research.
