Lovat Castle (site of)
Lovat Castle dated back to the 12th century but was destroyed in the 17th century and replaced by a new house, also later demolished.
In 1377 Hugh Fraser of Lovat resigned the lands of Fayrlehope in the barony of Linton to Sir James Douglas of Dalkeith, 1st Lord Dalkeith and Lord of Lynton.
In 1464 Sir Alexander Fraser of Philorth received a charter of “the lands of Kinnell, Lovat, etc.” from his cousin, Hugh, Lord Fraser of Lovat.
