Bavelaw Castle
The majority of Bavelaw Castle, and L-plan tower, dates to the early 17th century. However it incorporates an older structure, probably built in the 16th century, and may have been a hunting seat of Queen Mary and James VI.
It would appear to have even older origins than that, as in the early 13th century Sir Henry de Brad, who built Braid Castle, granted Bavelaw to Holyrood Abbey.
The castle has been restored and is now occupied.
