Auchteralyth

Pont 29: Middle Strathmore
Timothy Pont, c. 1583 – 96map image courtesy of NLS

There was once a castle at Auchteralyth but nothing of it now remains.

On Pont’s late 16th century map of Middle Strathmore the castle of Auchterelicht is shown across the River Ericht from Airlie Castle and to the north of Bruceton.

I’ve placed the site of the castle at Auchter Alyth steading pending further research.
