Shandwick Stone

The Shandwick Stone is a Class II cross slab which stands on the coast to the south of the village of Shandwick.

Around 1846 the stone was blown down during a storm and broken into three pieces.

The two above ground pieces were clamped together and set upright in a slot in a stone slab base.

The stone was removed and conserved in 1988 before being returned to a purpose-built glass box.
