Leitcheston (site of)

The old castle of Leitcheston was a property of the Gordon family but nothing of it now remains and its exact site has been lost.

The first laird of Leitcheston was John Gordon of Leitcheston, the sixth son of James Gordon of Lesmoir.

There is a mid-17th century crow-stepped lectern doocot to the east of the track to Leitcheston farm.

I have placed the site of the castle at the new house of Leitcheston to the north of Leitcheston farm pending further research, however the old castle may actually have been located closer to the doocot.
