Invervack Castle (site of)
The Black Castle of Invervack was a seat of the Robertson clan but was burned down in the 17th century.
The manor of Invervack is described as the principal messuage of the barony of the same name in a charter of 1587. A tower named Innervack is marked on Pont’s late 16th century map of the Forest of Atholl.
The site of the castle is given by various Robertson clan sources as being west of the current farm of Invervack close to a footbridge across the River Garry to the west gate of Blair Castle. There is no footbridge here however I have placed the site of the castle at what looks like the potential footings of a building (although it may be a sheepfold) across the river from the gate lodge pending further research.
