Bannockburn House

Bannockburn House is a large mansion that dates back to the 17th century with 18th and 19th century additions, but it may incorporate earlier work.

A tower named Bannokburne is marked on Pont’s late 16th century map and likely represents a castle that was incorporated into the house in the 17th century.

The house is approached via a driveway, the entrance to which is flanked by a pair of 17th century stone gate piers featuring elongated pyramids on top of circular column bases.

Around 200 metres to the north east of Bannockburn House is an associated doocot, partially in ruins. On a lintel above the doorway in the south wall is carved the date 1698, while above the lintel us a stone carved with the date 1768 (possibly the date of its remodelling).
