The exact site of Weem Castle is no longer known, although there are three candidates for the location.
One is that it stood to the north-west of Castle Menzies.
Another is that the old castle was incorporated into the new Castle Menzies.
The third proposed location is close to the old entrance gates to Castle Menzies driveway in the village of Weem.
In 1510 John Menzies of Comrie, son of John Menzies of Weme and Janet Carruthers, received a grant of Culterallers from his brother, Sir Robert Menzies of Innercrean.
Weem Castle burnt down and was replaced by Castle Menzies in the second half of the 16th century.
