Upper Larriston (site of)

There was once a tower in this vicinity belonging to the Elliots of Larriston but nothing of it now remains.

The position published on old Ordnance Survey maps falls within an old limestone quarry. A more likely location may be at the nearby 18th century cottage of Upper Larriston (NY 5554 9392) where a stone carved with the date 1677 and an Elliot monogram and has been inserted into the south-west wall.
