Thornton Castle (site of)
Thornton Castle dates back to at least 1502, when it was owned by John Montgomery. It was blown up during a siege in 1640.
Part of an arch which supported the first floor apparently stood until around 1800 but the remains have deteriorated considerably since then, and now the site is marked only by a few stones.
