Crawford Castle
Crawford Castle is a ruined 16th century castle which probably incorporates earlier work.
In the 12th century Sveinn, son of Thor of Tranent and progenitor of the Ruthvens of Huntingtower, was made lord of Crawford. Sveinn’s daughter married William de Lindsey, Justiciar of Lothian, and he was granted the barony of Crawford around 1188.
