Rannagulzion

Strathardle; Glenshee and GlenerichtTimothy Pont, c. 1583 – 1596map image courtesy of NLS

Rannagulzion is marked on Pont’s late 16th century map of Strathardle, Glenshee and Glenericht, as a castle named Ronnagallan (sometimes interpreted as Ronnagxallan due to an X appearing in the middle of the name). The text “good S. ramsay” appears next to the castle, presumably “Good Sir Ramsay”.

I have placed the site of it at High Rannagulzion or Rannagulzion Farm (not to be confused with Rannagulzion House, previously known as West Drimmie, to the south) pending further research.
