Maxwellheugh (site of)

There would once have been a tower representing the seat of the barony of Maxwellheugh but nothing of it now remains and the exact site has been lost.

Maxwell Hughe was one of the places destroyed by an English army led by Edward Seymour, Earl of Hertford, in September 1545.

I have placed the site of the tower in the centre of the present day Maxwellheugh pending further research.
