Durie (site of)

Durie was a castle which burned down in 1641 and was rebuilt or replaced by a new house.

In 1260 the lands of Durie were given to Gilbert, son of Robert of Strathearn, who became the progenitor of the Durie family.

Durie was again destroyed by fire in 1762 and rebuilt as a classical mansion which was extended in the late 19th century.
