Kirk Hill

It is said that Queen Margaret built a church here in 1058, on the site of a hill fort.

However since Margaret didn’t arrive in Scotland until 1068 this seems mistaken, although it could just be a case of getting the dates wrong.

There was a church on this site from at least the beginning of the 12th century, and possibly earlier, although I haven’t yet found any other references to a fort.
