Cockburn Law

On the summit of Cockburn Law is a large fort covering an area of around 150 by 115 metres. It is defended to the north and west by three earth and stone ramparts, to the south by two ramparts, and on the east side by a single rampart.

The ditches and banks of the ramparts enclose an area of around 110 by 85 metres, with entrances through the ramparts on the north-west, west and south sides.

On the lower north-eastern slopes of Cockburn Law is a second fort and Edin’s Hall broch .
