Bass Of Inverurie (site of)

The Bass Castle once stood on top of a classic motte and bailey, and was the administrative centre of the earldom of Garioch during the late 12th and early 13th centuries.

The castle is long gone, but the flat-topped conical hill of the motte still stands to a height of 12.0m in Old Inverurie churchyard.
