Ninewells (site of)
Ninewells was a property of the Home family from the 15th until the 20th centuries.
There is a 16th century beehive doocot located at NT 86997 56167 which is traditionally associated with Ninewells despite being around 1km away. It’s tempting to speculate that the doocot may actually have been associated with the old tower at Chirnside although this is pure speculation on my part until I research it further.
Ninewells is marked on Blaeu’s mid-17th century map as Nymenoles.
The original castle was replaced in 1839 with a William Burn-designed mansion which was demolished in 1964.
