Collin
A tower named Koullyin is marked on Blaeu’s mid-17th century map of Annandale, based on Pont’s late 16th century work, but its exact location has been lost.
I have placed the site of the tower at the centre of the village of Collin pending further research.
In 1963 a hoard of more than 500 16th century coins were discovered in a sandpit at Rigghead to the south of Collin at NY 0292 7554. The coins, which all dated from between 1530 and 1540, were contained within a small globular jug which was buried beside a ruined wall around 1554.
