Twelve Apostles

Consisting of 11 stones, the tallest of which is 1.83m tall, half of this stone circle is on the plan of a circle 89 metres in diameter, while the other half marks out a wider arc.

Some time before 1882 a 10cm tall 12th century bronze figure of St Norbert was dug up at the circle.

It is part of the wider Holywood cursus complex which also includes the Holywood North and Holywood South cursus monuments (Holywood South is in the next field to the north east of the Twelve Apostles field).

Legend has it that it is impossible to count the number of stones accurately.
