Cathcart Castle
Cathcart Castle was a 15th century castle although only its footings now remain.
In 1644 the king ratified a charter and infeftment of 1637 to Bryce Semple of Cathcart which included the six shilling, eight penny land of Easter Browncastle.
Cathcart Castle was inhabited until around 1740 and still stood to a height of five storeys in 1866. Following a partial collapse in 1979 it was demolished in 1980.
