Auchingarrich

Lower Glen Almond; StrathearnTimothy Pont, c. 1583 – 1596map image courtesy of NLS

Auchingarrich is marked on Pont’s 16th century map, perhaps suggesting a tower house or castle, but nothing of it now remains.

John Burdon had acquired the lands of Auchingarrich by 1563.

Today the name applies to a farm at the centre of Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, and for now I have placed the site of it at the farm as if there was a castle it may ultimately have been replaced by farm buildings.
