Putachie Castle (site of)

Putachie Castle was a castle belonging to the Forbes family.

The lands of Alford were granted to Sir Alexander Forbes in 1411.

Exactly when the first castle was built is unclear, however it may have bene incorporated into an 18th century house. This house was later incorporated into a new house built in the early 19th century in a baronial style.

Putachie was renamed Castle Forbes when the seat of Clan Forbes moved here from Druminnor Castle.
