Murieston Castle

Murieston Castle was built in the 16th century as a simple keep. However by the early 19th century it had fallen into ruin.

In 1824 it was rebuilt and drastically altered, prompting one observer to describe it as having “the appearance of a folly”. It has now once again become a ruin.
