Kirkclaugh is a motte standing standing above sea cliffs and was later the site of a tower owned by the McCulloch family.
In the 18th century William McCulloch of Kirkclaugh married his cousin, Elizabeth McCulloch, daughter of George McCulloch of Torhouse, and in 1724 he had a sasine of Torhouse. He died in 1749.
