Daldowie (possible) (site of)
Daldowie was a probable castle belonging to the Stewart family in the 16th century although no trace of it remains.
It is marked, as Dalduy E, on Pont’s late 16th century map of Lanarkshire and as a tower within parkland on Blaeu’s mid-17th century map.
In the 18th century a doocot was built at the west edge of the estate (at approximately NS 66910 61956).
The site is now occupied by Glasgow City Council’s Land and Environmental Services department. The doocot was dismantled and rebuilt around 1.0km to the north (at NS 66777 62899) in 1999.
