Dundonald Castle
Dundonald Castle is a ruined 14th century castle which was built for Robert II.
In 1249 Sir Robert de Brus was granted a charter of two carucates of land in the fee of Egilfechan by Robert de Dundovenald.
Towards the end of the 13th century Sir Robert Stewart, son of Walter Stewart of Dundonald, the 3rd High Steward of Scotland, is said to have married Marion de Croc, daughter and heiress of Robert Croc, Lord of Crookston and Darnley.
