Deans
Deans is marked as a castle on Pont’s late 16th century map but nothing of it now remains.
The original castle was later replaced by a new house belonging to the Norvell family.
Deans appears as a substantial property on 19th century Ordnance Survey maps, possibly with a T-plan mansion to the south of a range of buildings. The house last appears on maps in the 1940s and seems to have been demolished some time soon after that as the site then falls within shale oil works associated with the Deans Oil Works.
The site now falls within an industrial estate.
