The Royal Hotel is located in Blairgowrie, within 15 miles of Glamis Castle and Scone Palace. Dundee city and its railway station are 19 miles away.

Built in 1852, The Royal Hotel retains the architecture's early Victorian character, while now offering modern amenities, including wireless broadband throughout the property. It is a family run hotel with regular traditional Ceilidh nights, folk music, and discos, and there is also a permanent display of local artwork. Onsite parking is complimentary.

The Glen's Restaurant at the Royal Hotel offers high tea and dinner, with Scottish Continental dishes a speciality. The Lounge Bar, where you can play pool, has a good selection of single malt whiskies.

A conference room is available for groups of up to 30, and the Royal caters for events, such as weddings or birthdays.

The Royal is well suited for outdoor activities. Some 30 golf courses are within an hour's drive, and the countryside offers a variety of walks, cycle rides, horse riding, fishing, and shooting.

There are 10 guestrooms with rich coloured decor and traditional furnishings. Each is named after a Scottish golf course or malt whisky. All have shower rooms, televisions, desks, and wireless Internet access.

Close to the hotel are many stately homes, including Balmoral, the Queen's present residence in Scotland. Glamis, most famous for its role in Shakespeare's Macbeth, is 15 miles away. There you can visit the Secret Room, and perhaps catch the glance of the ghostly Grey Lady.
