Inversnaid Bunkhouse is housed within a converted church. Downstairs are the bunkhouse rooms and drying room, while upstairs is an open-plan dining and lounging area. There's a fantastic music system, TV, DVD player, Playstation and licensed cafe area, while outside is a hot tub.
Undoubtedly the best hostel I've ever stayed in! This place is excellent, no other word for it!
We weren't planning on staying here (while walking the West Highland Way in 2004), but torrential rain an rapidly-approaching darkness forced our hand. The Inversnaid Hotel phoned up for us, and we got the last 2 beds. They even drove down to pick us up!
At the time of our visit there was one meal option each night, but the food is home-cooked and great. The night we were there it was pasta bolognese, and with just half an hour's notice Marion cooked me a special vegetarian meal which was delicious. Breakfast was equally good.
I should point out it has changed hands since we visited (2004), and I haven't been back since then so can't comment on the accuracy of my review above.
