Glenernan Bothy is a self-catering cottage converted from the old servants' quarters of the main villa of Glenernan Guest House.

Within a short walk of the Bothy are bars, restaurants and numerous village shops – Ballater has the highest concentration of Royal-appointed shops outside London.

The Cairngorms National Park is one of Britain's most beautiful and unspoilt landscapes, offering wildlife watching, walking, mountain biking, horse riding, canoeing, fishing and golf.

Nearby is the Balmoral estate, and Balmoral Castle (7 miles from Ballater) is open to visitors from April to July.
