Sitting as far north in mainland Scotland as it is possible for a village to go is ancient Durness, set amidst wild natural landscapes in an unspoilt area, with evidence of early Christian settlements, Viking invasions and even early cave dwellings. Explore the rocky coastline, imposing cliffs, sand covered beaches and enjoy the fantastic birdlife including some rarer species, as well as a colony of puffins at Faraid Head. The village also allows visitors easy access to Britain's most northerly golf course, the Highlands and a craft village on the site of an old RAF base.
