For the more active, Falkirk attracts members of the Rambler's Association and the CTC with cycle hire facilities and many fine walks nearby. The Union Canal and the Falkirk Wheel are only a short distance away, as is the Falkirk Monument and Callendar House. Visit Linlithgow Palace and Loch which is populated by many different breeds of wildfowl and a leisurely walk round the loch takes you through grazing sheep. Linlithgow Palace is the birth place of Mary, Queen of Scots. Ashbank is accessed from the M9 motorway at Junction 5, which is 3 minutes away. Polmont train station is only a short walk away and is just a 20 minute journey to Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow.
