Kelso, in the Scottish Borders, lies at the point where the Tweed and Teviot rivers meet, and makes a lovely base for a visit to both the north and south of the border. The town square is cobbled, and the streets are lined with attractive Georgian architecture. Floors Castle sits amid acres of parkland and offers walks, an adventure playground and gardens just made for an afternoon stroll. Kelso is also home to impressive Kelso Abbey and the popular Kelso Races. Unsurprisingly for an area with so many rivers converging, there is excellent fishing to be enjoyed on the Teviot, Tweed and Jed. Walking, cycling, hiking, golfing or simply touring the borders towns and villages make this area something special, whatever the time of year.
