This Class I symbol stone was discovered, along with Kintore 2, when a motte was demolished in 1854 during the construction of the railway.
The stones were bought by the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
Kintore 3 is in the parish of Kintore and the county of Aberdeenshire.
