In 1986 a series of Pictish carvings were discovered on a rocky outcrop and nearby rock face.
The carvings include animals that have been interpreted as either deer or horses (or a mixture of the two), along with cup and ring markings.
Eggerness is in the parish of Sorbie and the county of Wigtownshire.
