The historic map is an Ordnance Survey map from 1919 to 1947, and is provided by the National Library of Scotland

In 1986 a series of Pictish carvings were discovered on a rocky outcrop and nearby rock face.

The carvings include animals that have been interpreted as either deer or horses (or a mixture of the two), along with cup and ring markings.
