Yester House (site of)

Close to the site of the present Yester House was an older mansion house, demolished around 1700. This earlier house was built around a four-storey tower house which (judging from an inscribed fireplace lintel preserved in Yester House) was built by William the 5th Lord Hay of Yester in 1582. Nothing now remains of the original tower or the old house.
