The historic map is an Ordnance Survey map from 1919 to 1947, and is provided by the National Library of Scotland

A small stone tower with attached hall-like building is thought to be a 12th century castle built by Sigurd of Westness, or one of his successors. Now in ruins, it is situated at the north-east corner of St Mary's churchyard. The design suggests a similarity with Cubbie Roo's Castle.
