Portsoy Castle (site of)

Writing in “Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland: A Survey of Scottish Topography, Statistical, Biographical and Historical” in the late 19th century, Francis H Groome mentions of Portsoy that there “seems to have been a castle at one time, but there is no record of it, and its existence is only inferred from the place once known as the ‘Castle Brae’.”

The believed site of the castle is at 18 Cullen Street, although nothing is now visible.
