Peel of Buchanan (site of)

The Peel of Buchanan was the original castle of the Buchanans although nothing of it now remains and the site falls within a golf course.

The Peel was probably superseded by Buchanan Castle to the north, also known as Buchanan Auld House to distinguish it from the new house of Buchanan Castle built in the mid-19th century.

Peel Pond is marked on Ordnance Survey maps from the mid-19th century onwards.
