Mortonhall Castle (site of)

On a small hillock close to the present Mortonhall (built in 1769) stood a castle with moat and drawbridge. However nothing now remains of the earlier structure.

The estate of Morton and Mortonhall was granted to Sir Henry St Clair of Rosslyn by Robert I in 1317.
