Old Glenmuick Castle was replaced by Brackley Castle.

Writing in the late 19th century, Jervise mentions that the old castle suffered from the troops of General Mackay and probably from those of the Royalists in 1715 and 1745, and that "only a fragment of it now exists". Any trace of the castle has now gone however.
