Glamis Castle once stood on this site, and may have been built in 1542 (or earlier). It was largely demolished around 1790, although it was still possible to see traces of the foundations in 1906.

The site, commanding a good defensive position with views over the harbour and town of Kinghorn, is now occupied by modern housing (numbers 3 to 5 Burt Avenue).
