A castle belonging to the Gordons stood here until 1688, when it was burned down by General Mackay during the first Jacobite Rising. All that now remains on-site is a 17th century dovecot, which may be associated.
Edinglassie Castle is in the parish of Mortlach and the county of Banffshire.
