Durris House was built as an L-plan tower house with a large courtyard. In the 17th century the L was squared off to make a square tower,

A later mansion was added, and a wing connects to a secondary smaller tower, which may represent the remains of a courtyard corner-tower. Below ground level much of the vaulted basement survives.
