The Cross Keys is thought to be one of six bastle houses that were extant in Peebles 1870.
An archaeological investigation in 2014 discovered a wall some 1.7m thick. The building was remodelled and extended in the 17th, 18th and 20th centuries.
Cross Keys bastle is in the parish of Peebles and the county of Peeblesshire.
